LAKE PLACID - The Dave Keyes Band will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at Delta Blue in the Northwoods Inn.
New York City keyboardist and band leader Dave Keyes has just released his fourth CD, "Roots in the Blues, which features Keyes' songwriting and his award winning band augmented by the guitar work of Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm) and mighty bluesman Popa Chubby.
Keyes has been a mainstay on the New York music scene for more than 20 years, playing with some of the most important figures of blues, roots and folk music. This varied musical journey started in the spiritual Southern sounds of blues, soul and classic boogie-woogie, and continues through Keyes' recent CD's and his vibrant soulful live shows. His third CD, "Covered in Blue," which received three-and-a-half stars from Downbeat magazine, is a rambunctious set of mostly original material that ranges from New Orleans second line funk to slow, sensual blues and swaggering shuffles.
