OGDENSBURG - The Ogdensburg football team came up big with a key defensive stop on a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter, then was able to run down the clock to secure a 27-26 victory over Tupper Lake on Friday.

Trailing 27-20 with 8:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Lumberjacks marched 85 yards down the field to cut the deficit to 27-26. The drive was highlighted by a 59-yard gain by Mitch Keniston, who caught a screen pass from quarterback Morgan Stevens on the gain. Stevens capped the drive with a one-yard sneak with 5:40 showing on the clock.

Tupper Lake opted to go for the two-point conversion, but was jammed at the line by the Ogdensburg frontline. The Blue Devils regained possession late in the game and were able to rush for two first downs and run out the clock.

Keniston caught seven passes for 128 yards in the game, including a 59-yard pass from Stevens in the third quarter. Stevens hooked up with Roger Delair after the third quarter TD for Tupper's only successful two-point conversion of the game.

Stevens threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns and Jeremy Roussel rushed for 73 yards on 23 carries to lead the Lumberjacks offensively.

Tupper Lake's defense kept the game close in the second half after creating three turnovers in the red zone. Nick Dukette and Brasen LaVassaur each recovered fumbles and Devin Larson picked off a pass.

Ogdensburg took an early 6-0 lead when Jordan McCormick ran the ball in from 36 yards out on the Blue Devils first offensive play. Tupper responded in the first quarter when LaVassaur reached the end zone on a 30-yard pass from Stevens that tied the game at 6-6.

OFA regained the lead when Jon Tayler caught a pass from Josh Liebstein for an 11-yard score. Roussel scored from four yards out to cut the Blue Devils' lead to 13-12. OFA closed out the half with a score and a successful point after kick to go into the locker room with a 20-12 advantage.

Liebstein threw for 103 yards and two TDs and Joey Dalton went 8-of-16 for 158 yards as the Blue Devils used a two-quarterback system. McCormick rushed for 69 yards on seven carries to contribute to OFA's offense.

With the loss, Tupper Lake fell to 1-2, while Ogdensburg boosted its record to 3-0. The Lumberjacks are on the road this week against Gouverneur on Saturday.
