KEENE VALLEY - New York State Police are asking for the public's help in finding a Massachusetts man who was last seen at a store here a week ago and whose vehicle was found two days ago at a nearby trailhead.

Troopers say 46-year-old Scott Haworth of Chicopee, Mass., was at the Valley Grocery in Keene Valley last Thursday, Sept. 5. Police say he hasn't been seen since.

Troopers say Haworth is an avid hiker who frequently goes out on solo excursions.

His vehicle was found two days ago at the Round Pond trailhead into the Dix Mountain Wilderness, according to Detective Robert Kalisz of the Chicopee Police Department.

"It looks to me like he just went on a hike," Kalisz said. "It's not uncommon for him to do this."

Kalisz said he was last seen in his hometown, where he worked at a postal center, at 4 a.m. on Aug. 25. Co-workers officially reported him missing about a week later, Kalisz said.
