Man jailed after armed standoff in Saranac

SARANAC (AP) - A 26-year-old man is in jail after state police say he held them at bay for several hours during an armed standoff at a northern New York home.

Troopers say they responded early Sunday morning to a report of a man with a shotgun inside a house in the Clinton County town of Saranac.

Police say 26-year-old Marvin Dygert Sr. of Redford was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife and threatened to use a shotgun to kill his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and any police who showed up.

Dygert's two children, 5 and 6, were also in the house.

He was eventually taken into custody by a state police SWAT team.

Dygert is being held in jail on $5,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
