LAKE PLACID - Village police arrested a local woman on charges that she stole bracelets from a local jewelry store while shopping there with a child.

Police arrested Debra A. Wilcox, 50, of Lake Placid, at 12:36 p.m. Sunday and charged her with petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said that at about 1 p.m. Saturday, Wilcox stole two bracelets: a sterling silver macrame bracelet valued at $95 and a yellow silver macrame bracelet valued at $70.

Police posted a photo of Wilcox on the department's Facebook page Sunday, showing the woman at the store holding the hand of a young girl, and the public helped identify her, police said.

Wilcox was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in village court at a later date.
