BLOOMINGDALE - A thunderstorm Monday evening knocked a tree down on top of Roger and Margaret Holmes home, and the tree punched a branch right through their kitchen ceiling.

Local fire and police departments said they had no calls related to the storm, but that doesn't mean there was no damage.

"At around 6:10 (p.m.) Margaret & I heard an explosion & breaking glass as our whole house shook," Roger told the Enterprise by email. "Running towards the kitchen we saw that a branch had come thru the roof & ceiling!

"It was one of the loudest bangs I've ever heard & I've been thru many storms."

While outside chainsawing away some of the branches to find the hole, he said he found three more punctures through the mobile home's exterior. He temporarily plugged them with big-gap spray foam.
