SARANAC LAKE - A major overhaul of Olive Street continues today.

Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora said in an email that his crews have successfully transferred all but two water services onto a newer 8-inch water main. Two street mains have also been transferred to the 8-inch line.

Village crews will be transferring the last two remaining water services today, and transferring the fire hydrant by the post office to the 8-inch main.

On Tuesday, DPW will be transferring the last remaining hydrant to the 8-inch line and making a new 8-inch connection at the intersection of Olive Street and Williams Street.

Sidewalk and curb removal as well as some street reconstruction and drainage installation will begin on or about Wednesday.

DPW crews are also working on paving preparation for Riverside Drive, Birch Street and Fawn Street. Paving of those streets is tentatively set to start on Monday, Sept. 16, weather permitting.
