Swimming with Champy at Smoke Signals

LAKE PLACID - Adirondack bluegrass band Swimming with Champy will take the stage at Smoke Signals, a new concert hall in downtown Lake Placid, at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. Swimming with Champy is currently comprised of Sven Curth, Joe Beneshan, Ricky Fitts, and Lowell Bailey.

Curth, Beneshan and Fitts are all Lake Placid natives who also perform with the regionally renowned rock 'n' roll juggernaut Jim. Bailey also plays in the local folk/bluegrass group Big Slyde.

All four are products of Lake Placid's public school system.

Bailey is also an accomplished athlete who has competed in the Word Cup and the Winter Olympics, while Fitts sells beer for a living, Beneshan sells wine and liquor, and Curth is a general laborer.

Tickets for the show are $5, and the show is 21-plus.
