Franklin County DA Derek Champagne wins award

COOPERSTOWN - Franklin County District Attorney Derek Champagne was given the 2013 Prosecutor of the Year award by the New York Prosecutors Training Institute on Saturday.

Champagne's appointment to the Moreland Commission and his past roles as vice chairman of the New York State Sentencing Commission, counsel to the Law Enforcement Council and board director for the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York, past president of the DAs' Association and his participation on both Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Gov. Andrew Cuomo's transition teams were all mentioned in the presentation award.

The ceremony took place at the DAs' Association's summer conference installation dinner, held at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown.
