To the editor:
I support the Women's Equality Agenda because I have a 7-year-old daughter.
I want her to get equal pay for equal work, to be protected from sexual harassment at work, to be guaranteed reasonable accommodation during her pregnancies when she is ready to be a mom, to have her reproductive rights protected. I want her to live in a state where victims of domestic violence are protected - from housing discrimination and from their abusers. I want her to live in a state where victims of sex trafficking are protected from prosecution. I want her to live in a state where women who believe they have been discriminated against can afford to have their day in court.
And I want her to live in a state where we all understand that women's issues are deeply intertwined and must be addressed in a way that recognized those connections.
The Women's Equality Agenda is 10 points for a reason. These much-needed reforms are stronger together. As a mom, I want the best for future generations of women. We will only realize that future by passing a comprehensive 10-point agenda.
