To the editor:
Brian Mann's opinion piece on Saturday, June 8, entitled "Give me a sign," really struck a chord with me because of a recent experience. Although this does not pertain to signs, it does illustrate the idiocy of people who write instruction manuals. I purchased a chair that was delivered in a large cardboard box. After opening the box, I found inside a "Use and Care Manual" that contained a section called "Unpacking your chair" with the wording: "Please be careful opening the box. Do not use a box cutter. A deep cut could penetrate the inner box liner and damage your chair." Need I say more?
