House fire quickly extinguished in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID - Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a house at 15 Planty Way Sunday afternoon.

Volunteers said four trucks and 32 members responded to the call at 1:39 p.m. and a small section of in the back of the house was on fire when they arrived. Firefighters had the fire controlled within 10 minutes of arriving at the scene, using at most 100 gallons of water to extinguish it.

The homeowner wasn't home when a neighbor called in to report the fire, but the owner returned while firefighters were on the scene.

Firefighters were back in service at 4 p.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Nine members and one truck from the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department stood by at Lake Placid's station from 1:49 to 3:33 p.m. while Lake Placid's firefighters were on the scene.
