CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Jacqueline "Jackie" Bell Gonyea, 80, of Shenandoah Parkway, went home to be with the Lord May 22, 2013, with her family by her side.
She was born in Saranac Lake to the late Jesse and Elizabeth Bell. Jackie was a 1950 graduate of Saranac Lake High School and later retired as a secretary with the Virginia Beach Public Schools and was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John R. Gonyea; daughters, Deborah Gonyea Dupree (Chuck), Katherine Mary Bush (Chris); son, Timothy John Gonyea (Tammy); 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake, Va., with the Rev. Evelyn L. Lee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., on Thursday, May 30.
