TUPPER LAKE - A Sunmount resident was sentenced to half a year in jail for trying to strangle a worker at the home for people with developmental disabilities.
Christopher Chambers, 25, of Tupper Lake, was sentenced to 180 days in Franklin County Jail in Malone and five years of probation Monday in Franklin County Court.
Chambers was indicted by a grand jury in January on charges of strangulation in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the first degree and assault in the third degree. He pleaded guilty in April to attempted strangulation in the second degree, a class E felony. The male worker saw Chambers giving other staff members a hard time one day in September 2012, so he told him to stop. Chambers grabbed the worker and dragged him into another room, where he tried to strangle him.
The worker had neck pain, dizziness and head pain, according to the Franklin County District Attorney's Office.
