Carlton Howard ‘Bud’ Abbott

Carlton Howard "Bud" Abbott, 85, of Sebastian, Fla., passed away at his home on May 4, 2013, peacefully in his sleep.

Bud was born June 19, 1927, in Vermont-ville. He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946 and also served in the Army from 1950 to 1952. He was a truck driver, heavy equipment operator and managed Cascade Acres mobile home park for many years. Bud had a passion for fishing and playing horseshoes. His happiest memories were the times he spent with his grandchildren.

Bud is survived by his wife Sandra Abbott of Sebastian, Fla.; his son Arthur Abbott of Sebastian, Fla.; daughters Carla Lacey of Sebastian, Fla., Denice Fredericks of Lake Placid, Shelby Ratelle of Sebastian, Fla., Kim Spafford of Chesapeake, Va., and Wendy Sekulovski of Toronto, Canada; son Glenn Taylor of Toronto, Canada; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his beloved sister Norma Peckham of Vermontville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter Jodi Abbott Williams, grandson Travis Tripi, his father Howard A. Abbott, mother Blanche (Winch) Abbott and his sisters: Velma Symonds, Alma Symonds, Veona Moore and Winnie Vanderbogart.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid, officated by the Rev. David K Ousley, followed by a military burial at North Elba Cemetery.
