Police recover stolen bear statue

May 10, 2013
By CHRIS KNIGHT , Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - Village police have recovered a wooden bear statue that was allegedly stolen from a Petrova Avenue resident's front yard this week.

Police Chief Bruce Nason said they've also identified the suspect in the theft, who apparently tried to sell the chainsaw-carved bear statue to a local antique store. An arrest is pending, Nason said.

The chief said his officers are investigating the theft of other items, including a bird bath, from people's front yards in the Petrova Avenue and Lake Street area around the same time. He asked residents of that area to check their properties and contact police if anything they own may have disappeared.
