LAKE PLACID - The 20th annual Conference on the Adirondacks will be held next Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16 at the High Peaks Resort.
The theme this year is "20/20 - A Retrospective Look Back 20 Years, Today, and 20 Years in the Future." The event - a multi-disciplinary look at issues of climate change, communities, energy, working landscapes, wildlife and ecological trends - is put on each year by the Adirondack Research Consortium.
Featured speakers this year include Andy Revkin of The New York Times, Stephen Jackson of the Southwest Climate Center, state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens and Jerry Jenkins from the Wildlife Conservation Society's Adirondack Program.

The Adirondack Research Consortium is a nonprofit organization based at Paul Smith's College, led by Daniel Fitts and dedicated to promoting the free exchange of research and scientific information. This conference marks the beginning of a two-year celebration for the organization which is being marked with specials events, lectures and publications.
