Boil water order lifted in Dewey Lane area

SARANAC LAKE - The state Department of Health has lifted a boil water order that affected a half-dozen homeowners on Dewey Lane and Elbow Road, off Lake Street.

"It is now safe for all residents in this area to consume the water without boiling it," village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora said in an email.

Dora told the Enterprise the boil water order was issued after a water main break on Dewey Lane Friday night. The repairs were completed by 1 p.m. Saturday, but the laboratory where the water testing occurs wasn't open until Monday, he said.

It takes several days of testing with no contamination detected before the Health Department can rescind a boil water order.
