SARANAC LAKE - A Vermontville teenager was arrested Monday for allegedly threatening another youth with a pocket knife and selling cigarettes to a 15 year-old.
Village police charged the 18-year-old with second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, selling tobacco to a person under 18 and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. His name was not released because he may be eligible for youthful offender status.
The charges stem from two separate incidents in March and April, police said. The teenager allegedly sold a number of cigarettes to a 15-year-old male for $40. Then on April 13, the teen threatened a female youth with a pocket knife, putting her in fear for her safety, police said.
The 18-year-old was processed and released on an appearance ticket for village court.
