Pink chair sinks, a sign of spring

April 17, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce's pink chair plunged through the ice of Lake Flower's Pontiac Bay at 12:29 p.m. Tuesday.

Cathy Schmieder of Batavia was the winner, since she chose the closest date and time the chair would fall through the ice. She won $236, half of the raffle money.

Twenty-five percent of the money will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to promote breast cancer awareness. The remaining 25 percent goes to the chamber, since the event began as a fundraiser for the chamber. Tickets cost $3 each or two for $5.
