SARANAC - A Saranac woman is scheduled to appear in court tonight to answer charges that she stole more than $20,000 from a school booster club.

Deborah A. Perry, 52, was arrested Thursday by Plattsburgh-based state police. She was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by the Saranac School Booster Club after it discovered the missing funds, police said in a news release. Perry, who was the club's treasurer, allegedly stole the money for her personal use. She is in the process of repaying the money, police said.

Perry was released on an appearance ticket for town of Saranac court at 7 p.m. tonight.

Police said the Clinton County district attorney's office has been advised and is assisting in the investigation.
