TUPPER LAKE - The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Tupper Lake will hold a kick-off meeting next week as the official start of the 2013 fundraiser.
The kick-off offers information about the American Cancer Society's mission of saving lives faster by helping people stay well, helping people get well, finding cures and fighting back. Refreshments will be available. Anyone interested in learning more, or in participating in the Tupper Lake Relay for Life are encouraged to attend from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Wild Center on Hosley Avenue.
Relay For Life is a 12-hour event during which teams of friends and colleagues set up camp and take turns walking around a track to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease and fight back by raising funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society. When not walking, participants enjoy family-friendly activities, food and local entertainment.
The third annual Tupper Lake Relay for Life will take place from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. June 15 to 16 at the Tupper Lake Rotary Track and Field at L.P. Quinn Elementary School.
Teams may register anytime online at www.relayforlife.org.
Volunteers are needed to help plan the event, recruit teams, solicit community support and lend assistance in other ways.
