‘SomaBeats: African Drum and Dance’ March 28

March 21, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - Johnna MacDougal will present "SomaBeats: African Drum and Dance" at noon March 28, in the Cantwell Community Room at the Saranac Lake Free Library.

SomaBeats is the creation of Johnna MacDougall who, for more than 30 years, has been passionate about building stronger life rhythms for herself and the community. Her work began as a physical education teacher studying the healing arts. She also founded a Wellness Alliance in downtown Saratoga Springs. In 2002, she moved to Saranac Lake to co-direct and instruct in the massage therapy department at North Country Community College.

Those attending are asked to bring pots, pans and musical instruments to join her in a rhythmic experience of drum and dance. Her approach supports individual creativity, leadership, self expression and the development of group bonding.

Bring soup or sandwich as well and enjoy desserts and beverages provided by the Hospitality Committee. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 518-891-4190.
