With seven years of experience under her belt at Country Manor, Vega-Castro was ready to lead a facility of her own. She said she was drawn to the tight-knit atmosphere at Mercy Living Center and the warm sense of community in Tupper Lake. As the administrator of a smaller facility like Mercy, she said she welcomes the opportunity to wear several hats and become involved in many aspects of resident care.

Vega-Castro earned a bachelor's degree in healthcare management from SUNY?Institute of Technology in Utica, and a master's degree in health management from Trident University International. She also serves as a career counselor in the U.S. Army Reserve.

In her free time, Vega-Castro likes to run and spend time with her two daughters, playing soccer and participating in Girl Scouts.
