To the editor:
I was pounding the pavement once again asking merchants for donations last week. This time on behalf of the Saranac Lake High School Music Theatre and the upcoming production of "Once Upon a Mattress." Thanks to the generosity of so many, we had a very successful fund raiser at Romano's last weekend.
It is with a bit of trepidation, especially during this time of year when business is slower, that I walk around town with my hand out. These people get asked to donate an awful lot, especially with so many worthwhile non-for-profits around. However, never was I made to feel anything but welcome and appreciated for my asking. I want everyone I approached to know how grateful I am for their kind responses, even the ones that just couldn't give this year because of tough times. Mutual support between the arts, businesses and the caring residents of Saranac Lake is what keeps this special place alive. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are the reason Saranac Lake is such a wonderful place.
These are a few of the generous folks in this community that helped make our benefit such a success: Romano's Saranac Lanes, Major Plowshares Army & Navy Surplus, Two Horse Trade Company, Twin Crystal Rock Shop, T.F. Finnigan's, The Community Store, Goody Goody's, Nori's Village Market, Pink, Eco Living, DownHill Grill, Bear Essentials, Ampersound, Dorsey Street Exchange, Salon Mirage, Adirondack Carousel.
