Bernard ‘Gino’ Snyder

TUPPER LAKE - Bernard "Gino" Snyder, 87, of Tupper Lake, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Gino was born on June 15, 1925, the son of George and Emma (Goodrow) Snyder.

Gino enlisted in the United States Armed Forces on March 18, 1946, as a link trainer instructor with the 49th Fighter Group 5th Air Force at Chitoee Airbase in Japan. He returned home on Aug. 27, 1947.

He worked for the Altamont Milk and Ice Cream Company for 29 years. In 1976 he started Tri-Lakes Ice Cream, where he worked until his retirement in 1999.

On Nov. 22, 1953, he married the former Yvonne Planty.

Gino is survived by his wife and five children: Sue Colby and her husband Jim Colby of Milton, Vt., Tom and his wife Tracey of Tupper Lake, Anne Jay of Tupper Lake, Joe and his wife Mary Ellen of Tupper Lake, and J.P. and his wife Judy of Tupper Lake; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by one son, David, in 2003.

Calling hours are scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, followed by a funeral service at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in May.
