AuSABLE - Two residents of this Clinton County town were jailed Tuesday after police allegedly discovered a methamphetamine lab in their home.
A New York State Police Special Operations Team made the arrests at about 5:45 a.m. at the couple's home, according to a press release. Police said they entered the residence at 395 Harkness Road and arrested Todd N. Whitney, 43, and Rhea L. Manion, 39, on warrants issued by Clinton County Court as a result of grand jury indictments.
An additional search warrant was executed at the home later Tuesday by the state police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team and the Troop B Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and evidence related to the manufacturing of methamphetamine was secured.
Whitney and Manion have been charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class D felonies. Additional charges are pending, police said.
The defendants were arraigned in Clinton County Court before Judge Kevin Ryan and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
