The Met presents ‘Parsifal’ Saturday at LPCA

LAKE PLACID - Star tenor Jonas Kaufmann sings the title role in a new production of Wagner's final masterpiece "Parsifal," staged by acclaimed French Canadian director Frcoois Girard in his Met debut.

This Live in HD Screening will be available to North Country audiences to view on the big screen at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts at noon Saturday.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for LPCA members, $12 for students 18 and under. Themed Box Lunches from Saranac Sourdough are available to order at the Box Office prior to the performance and will be delivered for intermission.

The cast of Wagnerians assembled for the deeply meditative opera about sin, redemption, pain, and healing includes German bass Rene Pape as the wise knight Gurnemanz; Swedish soprano Katarina Dalayman as the wayward temptress Kundry; Swedish baritone Peter Mattei as the wounded king Amfortas; and Russian bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin as the evil wizard Klingsor. Italian maestro Daniele Gatti conducts Wagner's powerful and complex score. American bass-baritone Eric Owens hosts the transmission and conducts backstage interviews with the stars.

Running time is approximately 330 minutes, including two intermissions.
