Roberts earns bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State College

Ryan Roberts of Cheektowaga and formerly Bloomingdale, graduated Dec. 15 , 2012 from ?Buffalo State College Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree with certification in Social Studies 5-12 and a minor in Coaching. While at Buffalo State, Ryan participated in a collaborative project involving Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society and Buffalo State College. Roberts' project was individually selected from the class's final work to be included in the Historical Society's "Underground Railroad History Kit."

He worked closely with the Historical Society's exhibits, library collections, primary documents and staff. His work will be utilized by Buffalo local teachers and students as a formal offering from the education department of the Historical Society.

Roberts is a 1999 graduate of Saranac Lake High School, a 2004 graduate of North Country Community College and served four years (2005 to 2009) in the U.S. Air Force.

He used the Chapter 33 Post 911 GI Bill to complete his education.

While in the Air Force Ryan earned distinction as a basic training Honor Graduate. He was also awarded Humanitarian Service medal in 2005 for participation in relief operations Hurricane Katrina and in 2008 Communication and Information Airman of the Year- 55th Communication Group Offutt AFB.

He is the son of Linda and Tom Tarka of Bloomingdale and Rick and Barb Roberts of Saranac.
