A great place for freestyle skiing World Cup

January 30, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Lake Placid has an Olympic sports legacy unrivaled by any other city in the United States. The USANA Freestyle World Cup is a classic stop on the World Cup tour and is a cornerstone to the FIS Freestyle World Cup schedule. The event was another outstanding production by ORDA (the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority) and the entire Lake Placid community.

Thanks to the investments and improvements to the aerials venue at the Olympic Jumping Complex, the USANA Freestyle World Cup is considered one of the best stops in the world. Combined with the storied Olympic history of Lake Placid, this is truly a one-of-a-kind place to experience freestyle skiing. It was the perfect place to watch Hannah Kearney's triumphant return from injury. Over the course of the weekend, the freestyle athletes found their way to the podium four times. This would not have been possible without the dedication of the outstanding Lake Placid team, volunteers and cheering fans.

The entire Lake Placid team delivered an incredible, historic event that will continue to be held up in the highest regard on the international circuit. On behalf of our athletes, I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to ORDA and the Lake Placid community for an outstanding weekend of freestyle skiing. Thank you for making this such a memorable event.

Sincerely,

Bill Marolt
