First Night Saranac Lake is proud to be one of 75 First Night New Year's Eve celebrations conducted across the United States. First Night began in Boston more than 30 years ago as a family-oriented, alcohol-free, celebration of the performing and visual arts bring to welcome in the New Year. For more information on the national organization, visit www.firstnightusa.org. First Night 2013 in Saranac Lake will be held Dec. 31, 2012.
Admission to all venues is gained by showing your First Night 2013 Button. Buttons are $12 for adults and can be purchased starting in Mid-November at Ampersound Music, Price Chopper Supermarket (Lake Placid), Books & Baskets, Blueline Sports, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Saranac Lake Chamber or Lake Placid Visitor Bureau. Children 12 and under are free. All button sales are final.
Purchasing a First Night button not only provides entry to all venues but provides financial support to this community activity. All First Night artists and performers are paid for their participation. In addition to button sales, support for First Night Saranac Lake comes from community business contributions, private donations, and from grants from organizations that support First Night values.
Every year, the Harrietstown Town Hall is filled with music and dancing on New Year’s Eve as live entertainment is offered at the one of many venues throughout the village.
