Dec. 8: ECAC Hockey. North Country rivals St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University will face off in the famed 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena.

Dec. 28: New Year's Masters Ski Jump at the Olympic Jumping Complex.

Dec. 30: STARS ON ICE presented by Smucker's. The world's premier figure skating show is produced by skating legend Scott Hamilton and is known around the world for its extraordinary skaters and unparalleled performances. The Stars on Ice Tour is a not-miss event for skating fans.

Jan. 5: The Met Live in HD "Les Troyens," noon, Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 11: LPCA Black and White Juried Show Reception and Awards, 5-7 p.m., Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 11: "Cabaret Night: An Evening with Matt Sorensen,"?8 p.m., Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 12: Met Live in HD Encore "La Clemenza Di Tito," 1 p.m., Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 14-19: USANA FIS World Cup Freestyle Skiing. The world's best freestyle skiers return to Lake Placid to compete in the FIS freestyle World Cup. Action will take place at the Olympic Jumping Complex and Whiteface Mountain.

Jan. 18: Winter Film Series, "Sleepwalk With Me," 7:30 p.m., Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 26: Lake Placid Loppet and Kort Loppet. Nordic skiers will converge on the cross-country ski trails at Mt. Van Hoevenberg to compete in the 30th Lake Placid Loppet.

Jan. 27: Banff Mountain Film Festival, 7 p.m., Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Jan. 31-Feb. 3: Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships at the Olympic Center.

Feb. 3-9: Viessman FIL World Cup Luge. This is the first international luge competition on the 20-curve track since the 2009 FIL world luge championships.

Feb. 7-10: 33rd Empire State Winter Games

Feb. 23-24: Nor/Am Biathlon racing

Feb. 25-March 1: FIBT Sliding School

March 4-10: North American Cup bobsled and skeleton racing

March 15-16: The NCAA Div. III Men's Ice Hockey National Championships. For the fifth time, and the second consecutive year, the nation's top DIII men's ice hockey team will be crowned in Lake Placid. The nation's top four teams will square off in the semi-finals, March 16, and the 2013 national champion will be crowned the following evening. The three games will be played in the famed 1980 Rink Herb Brooks Arena.
