SARANAC LAKE - The Adirondack Artists' Guild will present "Arts and Flowers," an exhibit benefiting the Saranac Lake Village Improvement Society, throughout February.
Each year the Guild selects a community organization to be the recipient of a percentage of sales from the benefit show.
The 14 members of the guild will have work on the walls reflecting the concept of gardens and flowers. Each piece will have a bidding sheet next to it. Bidding will continue through Feb. 28.
There will be an opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at the Guild. Refreshments prepared by members of the Village Improvement Society will be served.
The Village Improvement Society is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers. For over100 years, VIS has owned and cared for seven community parks.
Founded in 1910, the Village Improvement Society of Saranac Lake owns and maintains 7 community parks,including Vest Pocket Park, Beaver Park, Denny Park, Dorsey Park, the Triangle and Riverbank Park,Sunset Park and the Herb Garden. The organization also provides the beautiful hanging baskets in downtown Saranac Lake and care for flowerbeds and planters throughout the Village.
The Adirondack Artists Guild is a cooperative retail art gallery representing a diverse group of regional artists residing and working in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack Park.The gallery is located at 52 Main St, Saranac Lake, 518 891-2615. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
