Northwood defends home ice

January 24, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
The Northwood Junior team celebrates on the Olympic Center ice Sunday after winning the Chris Ferrier Memorial Trophy with a thrilling come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Nichols School (Buffalo) in the championship game of the 34th annual Northwood Invitational. Matt Ward, Scott Fenwick, Shawn Lynch and Robbie Hennessey each scored goals for the Huskies in the final. Corey Mackin was named as the tournament’s most valuable player, while Alex Morin and Hennessey were all-tournament selections. The tournament featured 42 teams playing in three different conferences. The championship trophy was named for Marine Sergeant Christopher Ferrier, who passed away tragically in 2007 in a traffic accident in his hometown of Huntington.
