LAKE PLACID - The Community Theatre Players will host open auditions for their spring musical from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.

This May, CTP will be presenting Evita at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. The music was written by Andrew Lloyd Weber with book and lyrics by Tim Rice. Bonnie B. Brewer is directing the production, with music direction by Phill Greenland and choreography by Terpsie Toon.
Evita is a pop-opera, and is entirely sung. There is no spoken dialogue. Those auditioning will sing with piano, and the keys are identical to the Original Broadway Cast recording. Those that would like to be considered for featured dance roles should be prepared and dressed to dance.
Performances dates are May 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. and May 26 at 2 p.m. Interested parties must be available for every performance as well as all technical rehearsals. People are asked to bring their personal calendar to the audition and be prepared to give schedule conflicts.
The role of Eva Peron has been cast.
The following are available roles:
-Juan Peron: (40s/50s, Legit high baritone to G) for auditions, please sing the "Charity Concert" verse ("Tonight I'm proud to be the people's spokesman...")
-Che: (20s/30s, Legit/Pop high tenor to G) for auditions, please sing one verse of "High Flying Adored."
-The Mistres (Teens/Twenties, Legit/Pop soprano to D, plus doubling ensemble) for auditions, please sing one verse of "Another Suitcase in Another Hall."
-Augustin Magaldi: (40s/50s, Legit Character Tenor to G, plus doubling ensemble) for auditions, please sing one verse of "On This Night of a Thousand Stars."
-Ensemble (15 to 60, eight strong singers playing Eva's family, Descamisados, The Military, The Aristocracy, Cabinet Members) For auditions, please sing one verse of "A New Argentina." All ensemble roles have featured character solos.
-Tango Team: (Any age, two experienced dancers) First and foremost, strong dancers with the ability to work as a duet dance team. In these two heavily featured dance roles, strong singing is not absolutely required, but it is a plus.
