Home for the Holidays thanks

January 16, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

My mother always said, "It is never too late to say thank you." So here is my belated thank-you for all those who came together to aid in the success of this year's Home For the Holidays.

The first thank-you is to Jim Murnane of Best Western Mountain Lake Inn. Jim has always said "yes" to donating the inn's conference room for the Free Family Movie. He and his staff made the event trouble-free.

Thank you to the Saranac Lake Youth Center and Director Diane Roberts. They are always willing to help in any way possible. What a great group of young people. This year it was "Pictures with Santa" and the "Pet Pictures with Santa Paws." Although the Snowman Building Contest was canceled - due to lack of snow - they were ready to judge the contest. These young folks are Saranac Lake's future, and it sure looks bright!

Thanks to Nicole Brownell, of Gauthier's Saranac Lake Inn, who every year dreams up great crafts for kids of all ages. Her drive and talent are endless.

Thanks to Adrienne Relyea, of Little Red Marketing, who launched and updated our Facebook page and kept the whole community current on all the free, fun, family activities.

Thanks to Coakley Ace Hardware for once again donating the popcorn for the movie night. I must say I have never had such "yummy" popcorn. In fact, one little girl said, "Thank you, Mr. Ace," and then had three bags!

Thanks to all those behind the scenes, those we don't see but help make good things happen: the village of Saranac Lake for the loan of the sound system, the town of Harrietstown for the loan of the movie screen, Jack Drury for the loan of speakers for the movie sound, and my husband Keith who gathers all the equipment, buys and runs the movie. Thank you!

Thanks to all I have thanked previously for all your work on the tree lighting and marshmallow roast: Lorraine Kelly, Fred Schwarz, Chip Button, Liz Murray, LeeAnn Baker, Janie Bevilacqua, Cherrie Sayles, Drew Benware and the Saranac Lake High School Chorus, and Mayor Clyde Rabideau. You are the greatest!

No thank-you would be complete without a really BIG thank-you to the entire Home for the Holidays committee - again another great year of free fun family events. Thanks for all your hard work. Make note that our next meeting to plan for December 2013 will be on board our boat, "True Love," with our traditional wine and cheese.

May this new year be one of the very BEST!
