SARANAC LAKE - A local man was jailed Tuesday night for allegedly stealing more than $2,000 from a local business.

Village police charged Robert W. Cruz, 26, of Saranac Lake, with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree conspiracy and fourth-degree grand larceny at 3 p.m. Tuesday. He was arrested following an investigation into a larceny at a local business, according to police Chief Bruce Nason.

Nason said Cruz conspired with at least one other person to steal approximately $2,500 from a business he was working at on Nov. 25, 2012. Cruz also allegedly assisted the other suspect with the larceny.

Nason declined to identify the business where the money was stolen. He said police do know of at least one additional suspect, and are working to track that person down.

"We're actively looking for that suspect," Nason said.

Cruz was arraigned in village court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
