Hospital limits access to birthing center to protect babies from flu

January 12, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - As a precaution to protect infants from the recent local increase in flu and flu-like illnesses, Adirondack Health is restricting visitors to the Stafford New Life birthing center at Adirondack Medical Center.

For the protection of each infant, only the father or significant other and grandparents are being allowed to visit the birthing center. If those members of the family are experiencing any signs of illness, they are being asked to refrain from visiting the birthing center at this time. There are no other visitor restrictions at AMC; however, individuals with a cough may be asked to wear a mask in certain areas of the hospital or in a doctor's office.
