Adult Center to host special historical films presentation

January 10, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake Adult Center will have its Board of Directors sponsored evening meal at the adult center on Jan. 16 with a special presentation by James J. Griebsch on rarely seen motion picture footage taken in and around the village of Saranac Lake from the 1920s to the 1960s.

Included among the many film clips are downtown scenes when the streets were shared by early automobiles and horse drawn wagons, activities in Pontiac Bay, ice harvesting, President Calvin Coolidge's 1926 visit, Winter Carnival and more.

Griebsch is an award-winning, local independent film and video director. The 16mm and 8mm fottage has been digitized in HD video and edited in an effort to provide a unique Kollecker film collection, archived in the Adirondack Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library.

Bingo will kick off at 2 p.m. with social hour at 4 p.m. and the meal at 5 p.m.
