Village ramps up snow removal

SARANAC LAKE - The village's Department of Public Works is stepping up its snow-removal efforts.

DPW Superintendent Jeff Dora said that, starting today and continuing through Friday, his department will run two crews around the clock to remove snow.

"Due to the amount of snowfall we have received the last 10 days, the Saranac Lake DPW has found it necessary to take an aggressive approach to removal of the snow banks in high traffic areas (vehicular and pedestrian) as well as narrow streets," Dora wrote in an email.

Dora said the public can help out by not parking on the streets at night - especially Broadway, Main Street, Church Street and Bloomingdale Avenue - starting at 11 p.m. and continuing through 6 a.m.

Dora thanked village residents for their patience.
