To the editor:
There are not enough words to express our gratitude to all those who have done so much to support our family during this difficult time.
Our loss of Harry "Hoppy" Hopkinson, just before Christmas, was pain we cannot put into words. We thank everyone for making efforts to come together at a tough time with short notice and the holidays.
There are so many of you we wish to thank from the bottom of our hearts.
The cards, calls, visits, hugs, gifts and words of kindness were so powerful in this time of need. We understand Harry touched many lives near, far, past and present. Please keep happy memories close, and be strong in moving forward.
There are so many who have done so much, and we will forever be grateful. The first responders, Officer Dionne and Officer Gladd and Frank Whitelaw, thank you for being there.
We wanted to extend and extra thank-you to Jim and Sue Murnane and the staff at McKenzie's Grille for their hospitality, the reception and the hotel accommodations for extended family. Also to Gauthier's Saranac Lake Inn for opening and providing rooms for us as well.
Thank you again for supporting us through this time. Enjoy your families and friends this holiday season. Have a safe and healthy new year.
Remember, every day is a gift.

P.S. I moved away from here many years ago to Florida, and I love the warmth and sunshine. However, on this trip back, I realized how much I missed the small-town compassion and closeness people have to help those in need. I go home with the pride that I was raised in this area of beautiful country and caring people.
