SARANAC LAKE - A local man who's already facing federal charges for sending sexually explicit text messages to a teenage girl has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman in the leg with a knife on Christmas Eve.
Michael L. Bombard, 24, of Saranac Lake, was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both of which are class D felonies, at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday.
Village Police Chief Bruce Nason said his officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute at the Main Street apartment Bombard shared with the woman, whom Nason didn't name. Bombard allegedly stabbed the woman in the thigh with a kitchen knife during the argument, Nason said. The woman was injured and went to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for treatment.
Bombard was taken into custody and processed at the police station. He was arraigned in village court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
Bombard was arrested in March by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on a charge of enticement of a minor. A criminal complaint filed against Bombard said he allegedly sent sexually explicit text messages and emails to a 14-year-old girl from the Rochester area in the summer and fall of 2011. The two had allegedly met through a website.
Following his March arrest on the federal charges, Bombard had been released on conditions. The U.S. Attorney's Office and Bombard's attorney have been discussing a plea agreement to resolve that case before it goes to trial, according to court documents.
