TUPPER LAKE - The school board last week set the calendar for the coming budget season.
The board will hear state aid projections and discuss budget allocations at its Jan. 7 meeting. Then, over the months of January and February, staff will meet to develop the budget.
At the board's Feb. 4 regular meeting, the board will hear an overview of the current year's budget, and there will be a public forum to get feedback about recommendations for things to add or take out of the budget.
Throughout February and March, the board will review the budget with appropriate staff members, then the board will make staffing decisions at their March 11 regular meeting.
At a March 18 special meeting, the preliminary 2013-14 budget will be presented to the board.
The board's April 8 regular meeting will include a budget workshop, and another one will be held at an April 22 special board meeting, which is also when the final version of the budget is scheduled to be set.
Another regular meeting will be held May 6, and the budget document is set to be made available May 7.
A public hearing on the budget is set for May 13, then the budget will go to a vote from noon to 8 p.m. May 21.
