TUPPER LAKE - David "Haji" Maroun was sworn in as the new village trustee at the annual reorganizational meeting of the village board Monday night.
"I'm just looking forward to working with you guys," Maroun told his fellow board members.
He'll be the second Maroun on the board, joining Mayor Paul Maroun, his distant cousin. Paul Maroun said Haji told him he wants to spend time in the coming weeks going out on the job with each village department to learn more about how it operates.

Haji Maroun takes over from Trustee Chip Perham, who decided after one term not to run for re-election since he will spend much of his time out of the area now that his wife is retired.
The board honored Perham last week at a special meeting.
"We're losing a really valued trustee," said Mayor Paul Maroun. "He did an outstanding job. ... We're really going to miss you."
Perham told his colleagues it was a hard decision to step down.
"It was an honor to serve on this board," Perham said.
He said he's keeping the option open that he may run again in the future.
Haji Maroun was appointed to oversee the village water and wastewater departments. Trustee Leon LeBlanc will serve as deputy mayor and oversee the village office and Department of Public Works. Trustee Tom Snyder will oversee the Electric Department. Trustee Rick Donah will oversee the fire and park departments and act as economic growth facilitator. Mayor Paul Maroun will oversee the police department.
