SARANAC LAKE - Fifth-grade students at Petrova Elementary School in Saranac Lake carried crates, bags and boxes full of non-perishable goods they collected for the Saranac Lake Interfaith Food Pantry to Anne Cooney's waiting car outside the school Friday.
Petrova Principal Josh Dann had challenged each student and teacher in the school - a total of 400 people - to bring in an item for the food pantry by Friday. They ended up collecting nearly 600 items.
The following fifth-grade students helped load the food into Cooney's car on Friday: Ben Munn, Phillip Taylor, Jacob Adams, Dylan Stewart, Carter Matzel, Destiny Santerre, Willy Groves, Brennan Nobles and Griffin Smith.
