MADRID - Mitch Keniston scored 21 points but it wasn't enough as the Tupper Lake boys basketball team dropped its season opener 60-42 against Brushton-Moira on Wednesday.
The game was a semifinal matchup of the John Dineen Tournament and also counted in the Northern Athletic Conference North Division standings. Madrid-Waddington downed Norwood-Norfolk 75-21 in the other semifinal.
The Lumberjacks will take on Norwood-Norfolk in a consolation game on Friday at 7 p.m.
Justin Lavarnway scored 16 points and teammates Adam Martin and Zach Burnett each hit for 11 to lead the Panthers on Wednesday.
