TUPPER LAKE - Two women pleaded not guilty to drug sale and possession charges in Franklin County Court.

Bonnie Reid, 58, and Renee Nadeau, both of Tupper Lake, pleaded not guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Franklin County District Attorney Derek Champagne said Nadeau was approached on March 1 by a confidential informant, who was equipped with both physical and electronic surveillance. The informant asked Nadeau if she had Percocet pills.

Nadeau said she didn't but reached out to Reid, who did, Champagne said. He said Reid provided five Percocet pills for $50, and Nadeau took one pill in lieu of payment.

Both women were indicted by a grand jury on Nov. 1. On Tuesday, they were arraigned and entered not guilty pleas in county court.

They were released under the supervision of probation, and Reid was required to have electronic home monitoring, Champagne said.

They are scheduled to appear in court again Dec. 20.
