SARANAC LAKE - The Will Rogers Senior Outing Club's November event will be a walk at the Bloomingdale Bog with Naturalist and Guide Ed Kanze on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Kanze will discuss the natural history of the bogs and the cultural history of the train that used to operate along the now abandoned rail bed. Members will also search for gray jays, boreal chickadees and black-backed woodpeckers that inhabit the bog year-round.
The Saranac Village at Will Rogers Senior Outing Club is open to all seniors (55+) interested in venturing out for moderate activity at various locations around the area. Activities are held on the last Tuesday of every month. The club's mission is to "offer seniors the chance to enjoy outdoor adventures with companionship, safety and fun."
This program is open to the public and there is no fee for the walk. Lunch will be at the Belvedere immediately following the excursion. The departure time will be 9:30 a.m. from Will Rogers.
