Eugenio Festa

November 16, 2012
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

LAKE?PLACID?- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenio Festa on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at his home in Lake Placid after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He will be missed by his wife, Catherine Ernst; his beloved daughter, Maria Carolina; his niece, Carolina Cappabianca Bursack and his family in Italy; his family-in-law and his friends.

Eugenio Festa came to Lake Placid from Rome in 1977 and fell in love with the region. He and a group of investors took Whiteface Inn out of bankruptcy and over the next 20 years worked with many people to develop the property's amenities, build roads and water lines and develop the Lakeside and Brookhill condominiums, creating the vibrant community of families that enjoy the property today.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. John Yonkovig officiating. The family will receive friends and family in the church as of noon. The M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home, Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all the people who so lovingly cared for him: Jason, Peter, Bill, doctors Craig Hurwitz, Steven Emmons, Marc Greenblatt and Anant Bhave and all the nurses of the dialysis, oncology and intervention radiology units of AMC and FAHC, and finally the nurses and staff of High Peaks Hospice for their incredible care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to an organization that helps adolescents in need would be appreciated.

Family and friends are invited to "light a candle" and leave a thought, story and prayer for the Festa family at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.
