TUPPER LAKE - The town board accepted Don Dew Jr.'s resignation from the joint village and town planning board at its Thursday meeting.

In his resignation letter dated Oct. 18, Dew said he plans to close the Timber Lodge, the hotel he manages, for the season since the nearby Big Tupper Ski Area won't operate this winter. He has closed the hotel for the winter season in the past as well.

Dew said he won't be in the Tupper Lake area for the winter season, so he won't be able to attend planning board meetings.

"It has been a pleasure to serve on this board, and I would welcome the opportunity to serve again in the future," Dew wrote.

Several town board members thanked Dew for his service and said they hope he stays involved in the community in the future.

There was no discussion of a replacement for Dew at the Thursday meeting.
